§ 01
The Idea

What Social Liberal actually means.

Social Liberalism balances market-based economics with regulations and welfare policies to ensure social equity and civil liberties.

India under Indira Gandhi (especially during the Emergency, 1975–1977) demonstrates Social Liberalism in action. While promoting nationalized banks and welfare programs, Gandhi also imposed an authoritarian crackdown—suspending civil liberties, censoring media, and imprisoning opposition figures.
