§ 01
The Idea

What Democratic Socialist actually means.

Democratic Socialism blends socialist economics with democratic institutions, prioritizing civil liberties and electoral legitimacy.

Hugo Chávez's Venezuela (late 2000s–early 2010s) exemplified Democratic Socialism, with state-led control of the oil industry, nationalizations in select sectors, and strong redistribution programs. Despite multiparty elections, state resources and intimidation tactics skewed political competition.
